Affordable Home improvement (AHi) was established in 1987 by Casey Ignas, a Polish immigrant who arrived in the United States in 1979 with nothing but an American Dream.
In 1992, Casey's son, Tom Ignas, a Choctawhatchee High School graduate, joined the company full-time.
In 1996, after obtaining his degree in Business Administration from Okaloosa Walton Community College, Tom passed the State Certification exam and became a Licensed Certified Building Contractor, making him the youngest in Okaloosa County at that time. This achievement enabled the company to expand its services.
Since its inception, Affordable Home improvement has completed hundreds of projects in our local area and throughout the North and South East regions of the United States. The company collaborated with Intown Suites for over a decade, undertaking thirteen building projects in multiple States.
In the early 2000s, AHi executed a comprehensive window and door rehabilitation project for Eglin Air Force Base, encompassing over 100 units. Additionally, AHi has constructed multiple single-family homes, conducted extensive interior and exterior renovations, including Dr. Siwicki’s Office (FWB Podiatrist), Lenny’s Sub Shop (FWB), and constructed over 2,400 square feet of interior office spaces within the FWB industrial park on Anchors Street.
In 2011, Casey Ignas retired, and Tom Ignas assumed leadership of the company.
In 2020's AHi completed Shoes & Life Styles Destin Commons Retail Renovation & Grand Blvd Corporate Office & Warehouse Project.
In 2026, Ashley Ignas, whom earned her Western Governors University Degree in Business Management, joined Tom Ignas as a Managing Member of Affordable Home improvement of the Emerald Coast, LLC. Ashley took over Administrative & Financial Management, and has primary authority over office administration, finances, banking, and business strategy. Tom Ignas continues to serve as the Primary Qualifying Agent and has authority over all field work, technical supervision, safety, and building code compliance as required by Florida law.
